CHOICES Research to Be Discussed at the 2017 American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) Conference

At the upcoming American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) 2017 National Conference & Exhibition in Chicago, IL, CHOICES will be the main feature of a plenary session discussing the 5 most cost-effective strategies to prevent childhood obesity. Dr. Steven Gortmaker will also discuss results from 2 papers now in press that examine important issues for clinicians working to both prevent and treat childhood obesity. Session Title: The 5 Most Cost-Effective Strategies to Prevent Childhood Obesity

Description: Faculty will discuss the Childhood Obesity Intervention Cost-Effectiveness Study (CHOICES) and the evidence behind the strategies assessed in the study to decrease childhood obesity. The cost-effectiveness of each plan will be discussed and skills for pediatricians to advocate for these strategies in their community will be presented. Barriers to implementing these changes and ways to work around them also will be reviewed.
