Amna Azfal, MD, MS

Dr. Afzal is an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics and an attending physician in Pediatric Gastroenterology and Nutrition at Albert Einstein School of Medicine in New York. She is interested in health care costs and outcomes associated with severe obesity and the development of cost effective measurement tools for dietary intake and physical activity in children. She completed a fellowship in Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Nutrition at Boston Childrens’ Hospital and a postdoctoral research fellowship at the Harvard School of Public Health, where she also obtained a Masters Degree in Clinical Epidemiology. As part of the CHOICES project, Dr. Afzal has served as a team leader for the evaluation of healthcare interventions for pediatric obesity, including bariatric surgery.
